New Recipes From Old…

Welcome to Recycled Recipes!foodcollage

The recipes you will find here represent an extensive collection of mouthwatering main dishes, hearty casseroles, scrumptious salads,  and delectable desserts. From savories to sweets, each of the offerings has been vetted by generations of delighted cooks and diners alike.

These recipes have been lovingly gathered over the years by our grandmother, our great aunt, and hundreds of devoted church ladies. Transcribed into cookbook margins, fly-leaves, onto recipe cards, each recipe was preserved for us by marvelous cooks who spent many years honing their skills and sharing their best with family and friends.

Their dishes have graced the tables of birthdays, anniversaries, wedding receptions, family picnics, and, of course, church suppers.

We hope you enjoy them too!

Granny’s Cook Book

The following recipe is actually my dad’s creation. He was what you would call “a dab hand” with a fruit punch. He loved entertaining, and enjoyed gatherings of friends and family – the larger, the better. He would preside over the punch bowl, ladle in hand and anecdotes at the ready. I am sure most of our holidays were invented with my dad in mind.

The Church Lady Cooks

I came across this recipe the wedding of the son of a good friend. The ladies who catered the event were most kind and supplied us with their version of this elegant and tasty summer side dish - Simple Spinach Salad.
